The spirit of unbelief reigns in the heart of many as a king. Unbelief is a mountain in the minds of individuals and causes many that have great potential to become crippled. Unbelief freezes one’s ability with fear. It neutralizes and destroys faith as a lioness that tears the flesh of its prey. It hinders progress and spreads like an airborne virus to others that are ignorant of its devices. It can cause the strong to become weak and the bold to become afraid.
John 11:15- And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
In the above scripture, Jesus intentionally didn’t go to Lazarus immediately because he wanted his disciples to understand, to believe, and to increase their faith. Today, there are many that struggle with the spirit of unbelief; the ugly truth is that it has become a giant in many individual lives. The spirit of doubt works together in one accord with unbelief. When an individual is lacking wisdom, Knowledge, and understanding, the spirit of unbelief is strengthened. The spirit of ignorance is an elevator for unbelief and a heart that is ignorant is a playground for the spirit of unbelief and any other spirit that wants to enter.
Many today will openly confess that they are believers but are not such at heart. God knows who are true believers and who are not. Beloved, remember the Lord reads the heart like an open book. Heaven is his throne and earth is his footstool. From before we were formed into our mother’s wombs he knew who are true believers. He knows who will stand in the midst of fiery trials and who would fall.
Mark 9:20-24- And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. And he asked his father, how long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. And oftentimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us. Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
This is a beautiful story of how they brought this boy to Jesus that was possessed with a demon and Jesus said unto the father of the boy; if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. The father of this young man confessed with his mouth that he believes but his faith was weak and this is why he cried out asking Jesus to help his unbelief. When one discovers the weakness of their faith they will discover how much they truly need God. This is why the man said; ‘Lord help my unbelief’.
Matthew 17:20- And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Physically speaking, a mustard seed is very tiny, however, when a mustard seed germinates and is fully matured it can grow up to 20 feet. If a mustard seed can grow up from such a tiny seed into a beautiful tree, it is not impossible that the seed of unbelief can also take root in an individual life and become a tree. Be careful what you nurture.
Not because an individual identifies himself as a Christian means he is a believer. Our heart is the contact point with God, so if anyone believes one will see the manifestation of their belief.
In the face of temptations, trials, and tribulations this will determine whether an individual is a believer or not. When Jesus was in his own country he taught the people and did great works so that many were astonished because of the knowledge he had and the miracles he performed. Nonetheless, because of their unbelief, Jesus didn’t perform many mighty works in that region.
While Jesus was on the earth he encountered the spirit of unbelief oftentimes as the Pharisees and the Sadducees were always looking for reasons to accuse him. The Sadducees and the Pharisees were asking for signs even though Jesus performed so many mighty works. This was because they had the spirit of unbelief and were bent on following tradition instead of the Word of God.
The scripture says, if anyone lacks anything let him ask. James 4:2 says, “Yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Before the spirit of unbelief is planted into the heart of a man, doubt is normally planted in their conscious mind first. Unbelief is like a magnet that attracts evil entities. Be careful what seed you nurture; if you find that you struggle with unbelief, ask the Lord to help your unbelief.
The Sadducees and Pharisees did not believe, Thomas asked to place his hand in Jesus’s side and when Lazarus was dead, Jesus groaned in his spirit because of the unbelief of the people. There are numerous scriptures in the bible that speaks of unbelief. If you find that you are struggling with this spirit, seek deliverance, and get guidance from a true servant of God.
May God bless your heart in Jesus Christ mighty name.
Many do not look at unbelief as a spirit but rather a simply doubtful thought
Amen 🙌. Glory be to God Almighty. May God continue to bless you and give you the grace to make yourself available for him to use you in Jesus Mighty Name .
